Dembele’s Early Strike Gives PSG First-Leg Advantage vs Arsenal in UCL Semi-Final

Paris Saint-Germain secured a narrow but crucial 1-0 win over Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash at the Emirates Stadium on April 29. The visitors struck early and defended their lead for the rest of the match.
Dembele Strikes Early
In just the 4th minute, Ousmane Dembele gave PSG the lead. After receiving a sharp pass from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Dembele made no mistake and calmly slotted the ball into the net. As a result, Arsenal were immediately put on the back foot.
Arsenal Regroup, But VAR Strikes
Although Arsenal struggled early on, they slowly grew into the game. Their best moment came in the second half when Mikel Merino headed in from a Declan Rice free-kick. However, after a long VAR review, the goal was disallowed. This was a huge blow for the Gunners.
Donnarumma Stands Tall
Meanwhile, Gianluigi Donnarumma put in a brilliant performance for PSG. The Italian goalkeeper made several key saves. He denied shots from Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Leandro Trossard. Thanks to him, PSG kept a clean sheet.
PSG Waste Big Chances
Despite leading, PSG had chances to extend their advantage. Bradley Barcola and Goncalo Ramos both missed clear opportunities late in the game. Even so, PSG will be happy to return home with a one-goal lead.
All to Play for in Paris
The second leg will be played on May 7 in Paris. Arsenal must find a way to break down PSG’s solid defense if they want to reach the final. On the other hand, PSG will look to finish the job at home and move one step closer to Champions League glory.
