Jimmy Butler Injured in First Quarter

Golden State Warriors’ forward Jimmy Butler suffered a pelvis contusion during Game 2 of the first-round series against the Houston Rockets.

The injury occurred late in the first quarter. Butler went up for a rebound and collided mid-air with Rockets rookie Amen Thompson.

Butler Tried to Play Through It

Though clearly in pain, Butler stayed on the court briefly. He made 1 of 2 free throws but soon asked to be subbed out. He left the game with 1:51 remaining in the quarter.

Painful Fall on the Court

The fall looked nasty. Butler landed hard on his tailbone. Thompson had been boxing out Draymond Green and unintentionally collided with Butler in the air.

Thompson recovered quickly. Butler, however, was slow to move and didn’t return for the rest of the game. The team later announced he would undergo an MRI on Thursday.

Huge Blow for the Warriors

Butler’s injury is a major setback for the Warriors. Since his February arrival, the team had gone 25-8.

In Game 1, Butler was unstoppable — scoring 25 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, dishing out 6 assists, and making 5 steals. His performance led the Warriors to a surprise win in Houston.

But in Game 2, he managed only 8 minutes, scoring 3 points with 2 rebounds before the injury sidelined him.

Other Setbacks for Golden State

The Warriors also missed key minutes from rookie guard Brandin Podziemski, who played limited minutes due to illness.

With Butler out and Podziemski not at full strength, the Warriors lost momentum.

Rockets Win, Series Tied 1-1

Houston took advantage and cruised to a 109-94 win, tying the series 1-1.

The series now shifts to San Francisco for Game 3 on Saturday. With Butler’s status uncertain, the Warriors will need others to step up — especially Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

What’s Next for Butler?

All eyes are on Butler’s upcoming MRI. If the injury turns out to be serious, it could derail the Warriors’ playoff hopes.

Butler has been the team’s anchor. His absence might put extra pressure on veterans like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to carry the load.
